My Experience Learning English

You can ask about what is the objective to learn or take a subject like English at the university, well from my point of view it’s really important, because when I was in my first term I was not really care about English, besides I can talk or understand a bit of English, I’m not really bad with this language, but I had had to read some papers in English, of course, so at that moment I was really conscious of the real importance of English in my academic life or my university life.

My experience with an English course began this year when I took the third course, well I must be honest I don’t really like that course, I feel that my knowledge was always the same, besides the activities during the class was really boring, but a really cool thing was that I had to write some post in a blog about different topics, but the problem was that I never received a correction of my posts, so I never knew my mistakes, but well, despite that was cool make a blog, know people of other careers and speak about my career in English.

During this second term I think or feel that my English is a bit better than before, I can read texts or papers more difficult and I’m really happy for that. Well, about the fourth course and English my experience has been different in comparison to the last course, I think that this course has been very useful to increase my knowledge, I wrote posts in the blog, again, but about different topics and each one very interesting, so I increase my vocabulary and the best part is that now I have the correction of these, so I can correct my mistakes, well I think I’m not really bad, just connectors are my problem, I’m learning.

So I can conclude that my English experience along of these two years of my university life was pretty useful, especially during the courses, because these were pretty fun in the way that I can talk about different thing in class and share the different experiences of my classmates. Because in these days is really important understand English, is vital to your academic or personal life can talk if you go to another country or if you need to talk with some people who talks that language or other, because English is almost an universal language. Everybody knows it and talk it.

Mapuche Culture

Moi! [Hi!]

Well, about the Mapuche conflict, I admit that I’m not really interested in it, so I’m not well informed about it.

But according to news, they have serious problems with their land, I really don’t know how to explain it, and it can sound strange or bad, but it’s true.

I think that the mapuches deserve an especial recognize. I mean in Swedish, for example, when a Lapp (a person who belongings to an ethnic group) goes to the city (Stockholm, Uppsala, etcetera), people admire him, their typical clothes, modals and, of course, his culture. But here, we despise to this kind of people, mapuches, yaganes or wherever ethnic group, we are almost ashamed of them or something like that, because we avoid them and, I don’t know, we exclude them… we don’t recognize all their good thing, especially in their culture. I don’t know if it is the correct word, but we are racist, because we value other foreign cultures, or maybe we discriminate against our cultures owns… They know all about plants and natural medicine, his language is amazing, and their knowledge is incredible, they are admirable! Despite it, we ignore them…

Well, I know, according the news, that the mapuches were more than two months in a hunger strike, which seem to me horrible! To obtain a solution to the problems of their land and they refused several instances to dialogue with the authorities, fortunately, they finally abandoned the hunger strike, but I think they health was damaged with it.

About a solution to their requires, I’m not really brilliant in this kind of thing, but I think that with a dialogue between the two interested parts, a lot of patience, and of course, the disposition to reach an agreement.Honestly, I doubt that the real solution could be reached one day, because any of the two parts are prepared to forget or concede his ideals or petitions.

Gottimetallia - Gothic Metal

Moi!  [Hi!]

My whole life can be translated into one word, *Music*. I really love to listen to music, I admit it, I’m addicted to the music., Without my marvelous music I prefer to be deaf … I really, really, really hate to hear people around me talking about several thing, but the worst thing is that always is about money, diseases or stupid things… So, music is my life, without it I suffer, I get hysterical (as a song of Def Leppard =P)

My music likes are a little strange; I listen to music unknown to the most of the people.

If I try to think my favorite music as a big gender, probably I’d said “Gothic Metal” but it’s a mix of different styles… The Kingdom of this style is Finland and Germany

Well, about bands, there are a lot! First to all, the band that I went to see this last October 2nd in the celebration of their 20 years, Lacrimosa (despite this is a knowing band) with the master mind of Tilo Wolff (German) and the beautiful and clever Anne Nurmi (Finnish). Their music is complicated to describe, but it’s a mix between symphonic (keyboard, violin) and something more heavy (drums, electric bass, electric guitar) that is simply wonderful, it’s perfect…

The 69 Eyes, another great band of Finnish “Gothic Metal”, with Jyrki69, Jussi69, Bazie, Timo and Archzie; they are known as the Helsinki's Vampires, an awesome band; their lyrics talk about common things that happens to “us”, I mean to people who loves this kind of music.

This band is a good example to describe the way that I discern about if I like it or not. I love to Jyrki69, the vocalist, besides of his “beautiful face” (he’s a pretty boy =P) his deep voice spells me, it’s something amazing; Bazie’s guitar is awesome, you can forget everything listening it. When I went to their first concert, I was in other world…

Well, I’m a crazy, I know, even in my music likes…

Hoitoympäristön! - Caring Environment!

Moi!  [Hi!]

It’s an important topic, especially to me, because I’m a person who is worried and cared her environment.

In my case, äitini [my mom] who was taught me environmentally friendly practices, simply things, as turn off light bulbs, computer, radio or anything like that.  Well and other things related with garbage, or no dumping in the streets.

About recycling, my mom and I try to reuse different kind of materials, as papers of photocopies to make doll's models or paper's paste to make pottery or different figures. Thus we can give it as a present and we can save money.  [A really important thing ;P]

We recycle plastic bottles of ½ liter, with these bottles we build a net of tubes to my beautiful Kimi Von Hamstervil [my disturber hamster xD yeah, I know, how can be a fluffy ball disturber? I don’t know, but he is terrible!] So, with these tubes he can explore, walk and keep his food in other places, instead of throwing bottles.

Well, about my transport, I undoubtedly prefer to walk, so I exercise my legs, and no just my legs, all my body, besides I can appreciate landscape where I go, building, houses, birds, flowers, trees, etcetera. And I use public transport, because it’s less contaminant than a car and with a few pesos [$] you can travel to any place. I’d like to use a bike, but I have problems on my knees, so I cannot use it.

In the future, I’d like to increase my recycling habits, so I could reuse different thing, avoiding buying new, as clothes, receptacle, bags, wood or any natural material.

But someday, for utopian that it sounds, I’d like to see people who really care the environment using bikes, maybe something like Denmark, but here it’s necessary a culture for it, and infrastructure, I mean cycle path, etcetera.

I hope it occurs someday…

Moi! [Hi!]

Well, it is not so easy to find news about forensic anthropology, so this is of September 29, 2010, and it’s about a woman, Mrs. Parker of 41-years-old, dispatcher vanished in 2007, and her remain were found along a river bank in Chattoonga Caounty last week before this news was published.

Forensic anthologist working on this case is Thersigni-Tarrant, and she was recognizing different trauma before and after the time of the death, as a fracture in her arm when she was young or trauma that occurs at the time of death. And also damaged that occurred after death.

Accord to the exam of Thersigni-Tarrant, the skull was fairly intact, but the rest of the remains were very fragmented and with a very white coloration, that means a long exposure to sun and the opposite side of the bone was discolored which means that was in dirt for a period of tme.

Forensic anthropologist will not able to determine cause of death, it means for blunt, sharp, burn trauma, but she can tell about manner of death, in this case, homicide.

But the GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation) is still working on its analysis of remains of Mrs. Parker, so investigators hopes to have a complete report of the case.

Parker’s husband is a former police officer who was convicted of her murder.

And when GBI has finished its examinations and analysis, it will release the bones to Parker’s family for burial.

This is a work of forensic sciences, specially forensic anthropologist, because is who can examine and recognize bones and its trauma.

Ihme - A Miracle

Moi! [Hi!]

I don’t really like to watch televisio [T.V.], so I don`t know what is occurring in the country or world and I don’t care, but äitini [my mom] loves to watch it everyday, so hän [she] was who told to me about this horrible tragedy… well, to me se on tragedia [it is a tragedy], cause if I was separated from ältini [my mom] in a situation like this I’d probably be desperate, because perheeni [my family] is only she…

During the two weeks of searching, for my mind never had crossed that they were alive and fine, maybe 10 or 15, but never 33 miners… Wow, it was amazing when we sent the paper telling that they were fine!!!

Ältini [my mom] was almost crying and I was very excited, despite I’m a cold-hearted person, but these were unexpected news, especially when we can see the lights and the face of a miner… it was an indescribable feeling.

About the press, well, with news so good was expected a reaction as they had, broadcasting the rescue work, the message, interviewing to the families, and of course, the celebration around of country, specially in Plaza Italia with Chilean flags and “vuvuzelas” (I hate that things! But for the occasion were ok), who was comparing when the “Roja” wins a football match…

It was awesome, and the government has three plans (I think so… I’m not sure…) to rescue them, although It’ll occur in a few months…

Fortunately, they can receive food, water, clothes, music, even beds for a system of “palomas”, thus they can be more comfortable, while the rescue continues…

I can understand all the pain and suffer of the 33 families, and of course, of the 33 miners, and I sincerely hope that they can reunite as soon as possible…

Suomi - Finland

Moi! [Hi!]

All my life has been “dark”, well, it’s difficult to me explain it, but understand it literally. Well, during these 2 years I had learned about a cold, beautiful and unknown country, Finland, in which I’d like to live…

Finland is one of the Nordic countries, it has the Borealis Aurora, its weather is really cold with a few grades under cero, and the most beautiful thing is that his night is present for 6 months of the year.

His language is particularly difficult; the Suomea [Finnish] is one of the ten languages more difficult of the world. They have the Finland Rally, one of the stages of the World Rally Championship, in Jyvaskila, it’s especially dangerous but really famous and the driver who wins this Rally becomes in a legend. Of course Finland has a long list of legend in Rally, like Juha Kankkunen, Ari Vatanen, Timo Rautianen.

Despite of Rally, the most important reason for my love to Finland is the music… Finland is the “Kingdom of Gothic Metal”, all the important bands of this music are finn, like: The 69 Eyes, Charon, End of You, Anne Nurmi of Lacrimosa, etc., and they have important music festivals.

Well, it is a “Paradise” for me, music, night, rally and cold weather… nothing better!

So I hope, in few years, to go to live to Finland… and see all that things and go to all the concerts of my favorite bands!

Elämäni - My life

(Image by Gottfried Helnwein a German artist that I love)

Moi! [Hi!]

Well, I don´t really think yet about things that I learned or studied during the first term, but I think that the greatest experience was the course of the the professor Steven Symes Ph.D, D.A.B.F.A , who is a recognized Forensic Anthropology of the Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA.

He taught us the different possibilities of trauma in a corpse, such as: blunt trauma, sharp trauma, burn trauma and shotgun trauma. It was really awesome, because I could know the Legal Medical Service and the professor Symes showed us different samples of human bones, so, we could see the traumas and recognized them.

I don’t have a lot of free time, but I decided that I want to learn Finn, so I’m trying to learn it, but it’s really difficult, despite it, I don’t give up! The best thing is that I got a book in English who teach you Finn, so I can study both languages at the same time, really cool!

In relation with my career, my subjects weren’t really interesting for me, except one: Elements of Physical Anthropology. The only problem was the teacher, what can I say, I hate him!, He is really despicable, but I enjoy this subject, I learned more about Genetic, Forensic and Morphometric Sciences.

My family is ok; well it is only my mom and my pets, we have a jungle!: two dogs, three chickens, two Australian parakeets, a turtle and my beautiful hamster called Kimi Von Hamstervil (I know it’s strange, but don’t ask!)

Well, despite it, my life doesn’t change a lot,

Welcome! - Tervetuola!

Hi to everybody!

Is a pleasure to me to use my blog again, I’m studying my second year of Anthropology, and I like it, especially Physical Anthropology.

What can I say; I don’t really know about what topics I want to write on the blog, because the things that I love can result a little strange. But I certainly know that I don’t want to write about Social Anthropology.

I prefer to write about Physical Anthropology, for example: the latest discoveries in Genetic Sciences, Phylogeny or about a new hominid.

Well, I don’t want to write just only about my career, I’d like to discuss about music, a good movie of the 30’s or something like that.

I told it, my likes are a little strange...

See you

The Beauty in a Photograph

This photograph was taken in my gala, when I finished the High School in 2008, I must admit that my gala was horrible, but I was happy, because I was with my mom.

The photograph was taken for one of my best friends Carol or “Mole”, who is like a sister for me, and of course I’m her “Rat”… (Ich Liebe dich mein Schwester, sorry, but I must say it… :) ) (It’s a really long story, so don’t ask! =P)

I really like this photograph, because my family is only my mom, so nobody can take us good photographs together.

These are the last photographs together, so I keep them as a valuable treasure until the next opportunity when we can take others with the help of a friend.

It doesn’t mean that we don’t take photographs, of course we do that!, but we always take photographs to our pets: Kimi (hamster), Julien (chicken), Akira & Darky (dogs) and Gertrudis (turtle), and we love it!, because with this photographs we can remember greatest moments of our loyal partners since they were babies, until they are old, and we can compare the changes that they are suffering, specially my wonderful Kimi-hamster!!!...

I hope to have a lot of photographs of my family, I mean together, but I have hundreds of photographs of my mom, It’s really funny to take her a photograph!
